| Petra is a 2000 year old city, carved entirely into the rose-red cliffs by the Nabataeans. In 1985 Petra was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. In 2007 it was selected as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

What a beautiful collection of photos! Petra definitely deserves the "World Heritage Site" tag.When did you visit it? Do you think it is safe for tourists to visit it today? I mean with all the security instabilities? |

I visited there in December 2007 and had no problems with security. I don't know what is the current state there. |
