Hey everyone. A few friends and I were thinking about going up to either Montreal or Quebec City Around December 17th, and we were going to stay for about 4 days, but we can't decide where. Can anyone offer any suggestions? We're mainly going to have fun and a good time to remember. Good food is a must, and we're looking to stay really, really busy. Thanks!

Hi..
I'm a canadian who lives in Quebec, at Montreal..I would tell Montreal is better( Not only because I live here) Because montreal is way more entertaining (dunno exacly how to write this word..:S )then Quebec..And also everything is easier to acces because of the subway (there are no subway in Quebec)..I don't know what you wanna Do in Canada but in Montreal there is more nightlife then in Quebec ...But if you are looking for there history site, you should go to Quebec.. in montreal: nightlife+++, "vieu Port", downtown, the mont-royal,Ile-Saint-Élene, the Casino...its relay cool and in quebec there is the Old Quebec that is very impressive.....but i know much more Montreal so that's why I think you should come here..but I never had bad comm'z comin' from tourist in montreal=)

(Sorry for my english writting, I am french trying to get my way in enlgish so...hope you understood!!)
Good luck and Good trip!!

OH and For the food, in quebec city and in montreal you'll get some great restaurant like litle bistro in midle town montreal there are some realy great restaurant i REALY like and in quebec it's in the old quebec (where there is the Capitol de Quebec(theater)) in each you just have to walk 5-10 min and you'l find 3-4 restaurant so...it's great twice.....IF YOU GO IN QUEBEC: gooo to the "cochon dingue" in the old...this one is driving me crazy....to good!! IN MONTREAL: try the "Jardin Nelson" in the "Vieu Port" this one...Jazzshow while eating and food :way too good!! just like most of the restaurant around at this place

You will find much fun and delicious food in Montréal! I would recommend the areas:Le Plateau & Vieux Montréal and then downtown. Santropol for lunch, Bagel Etc. Fairmont Bagels, a walk up The Main(which is Boul. St.Laurent)...check out the Christmas trees being sold and the little scene set up at the corner of St. Laurent and St.Joseph.
You can pop in Casa del Popolo or Le Cagibi for a café or drink.
St. Denis is fun too with lots of shops and cafés. I like Caféo on the corner of St. Denis and Rachel.
You might like to try poutine at one of the local diners too!
You will have lots of fun just walking around.
Enjoyxoxo

I'm a Montrealer & in the travel industry so I know about tourism. You are much better off in Montreal, bigger city with more to do. Old & new Montreal, has it all for young travellers. The food is unrivaled anywhere in the world....we have some of the best restos around. Quebec City is nice too, but you would save that to go during winter carnival (beginning of Feb) to have more fun. It's a much smaller city than Montreal, offering more historic things to do rather than fun modern day things.
However if you make your trip 5-6 days you could probably do both, as Quebec is only a couple of hours away by bus. Take a day/night tour....if your in the area of Montreal & have enough time, you can still go to Que City. Montreal also has the Laurentien mountains about 1-2 hrs away, Mt. Tremblant is like being in the Alps. Just gorgious. Safe travels!

Montreal would be a good place to have F-U-N. Saint-Denis Street & Saint-Laurent Boulevard are popular for great restaurants, shops, and bars and meeting great people. Saint-Denise is major north-south thoroughfare, which includes the Latin Quarter where you and your friends can enjoy the nightlife. In the morning, you may then want to hike up Mount Royal and enjoy a beautfiul view of the city (a little coffee may help with the hangover), although it may be a bit cold at the time you are visiting. Enjoy! So far, I think you have 3 votes for Montreal, eh?

This time of year, I would recommend to definitely go to Quebec city although it gets colder than Montreal, there is something magic about the old Quebec and since they are celebrating their 400th anniversary this year there is a lot to do there.

If you plan on going in February the annual Carnaval is on. It's a huge outdoor party with night and day parades. If you wish to stay there i recommend this B&B (http://www.cetcqc.com/) with reasonable rates for this busy season. Robert is the owner, a real nice gentleman who has seen a lot of young travelers. He will give you suggestions to enhance your journey.

Of course, there are plenty of hotels right in the old part of town at higher rates.
As for the nightlife, there are alot of bars for dancing and making new friends.

Don't get me wrong, Montreal is my home town and I love it, however I think you would definitely have a bigger blast in Quebec more so during the Caranaval.

When are you planning to come? Summer time in Montreal is full of outdoor fun with the Jazz and Just for Laughs festivals

Winter: Quebec city
Summer : Montreal

Well I think you guys should come to Montreal. Its a beautiful city and theres plenty to do.Don t get me wrong Quebec city is a beautiful place too,but not much to do.
And the French people over there are not very nice to ..outsiders.
In.. Montreal we have down town. All the restaurants and clubs you can imagine.
Theres also old Montreal and mount royal, plenty to do there ..to.
In.. the winter we ski and in the summer theres beaches and a little place called Laround.Which is like six flags.Theres also the biodome, thats an amazing place to see.O ya and the Imax 3d.The biggest movie screen in the world, and the movies are in 3D.Imagine that.
Well thats all I can think of now, hope I've been helpful.

Your Canadian friend Lee Larock.
